Part II (18h00-21h00) – At Blomqvist Fine Art

Following a summary from part 1, a panel discussion will examine the role of the private, corporate and public collector. Underlying questions raised: What does it mean to collect photographic art today, will we still collect in the future? What different approaches do private and public collections take? Can, with the increasing digitalization of images, the physical photographic image still provoke, reflect and pause in a different way than images available to us within a split second?

An underlying theme for the discussion is the increasing digitalization of image, digital image making and the use of new media. Wherein lies the fascination of the physical image as opposed to an image accessible only via a digital screen? Can the physical photographic image provoke, reflect and pause in a different way than images available to us within a split second? What is the role of private, corporate and public collections in this context? What do artists take into consideration when producing photographic art? Should they take into consideration that their work is collectible?
